Blue Ridge Energies Purchases Accugas Inc. of Lenoir

Lenoir, North Carolina (January 2, 2003) – Blue Ridge Energies, a wholly owned subsidiary of Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation, has purchased the propane business of Accugas, Inc., of Lenoir.

Blue Ridge Energies is provider of propane, heating fuels and hearth products and appliances.

John Hall, former owner of Accugas, will continue to serve in a delivery and customer service capacity for Blue Ridge Energies, primarily serving the Caldwell, Hickory, and Alexander customers of the former Accugas.

Letters to customers of the former Accugas are being mailed to inform them of the changes, to give information on available services from their new service provider, and to welcome them as new customers of Blue Ridge Energies.

Accugas was formed by John Hall of Lenoir and has a customer base reaching from Caldwell to Catawba to Alexander counties.

Customers will be served from Blue Ridge Energies’ Lenoir customer service office and appliance showroom located with Blue Ridge Electric at 219 Nuway Circle, NE. A propane filling station is available at the company’s operations office at 110 Nuway Circle, NE, just across from the corporate office of Blue Ridge Electric. Formed in 1998, Blue Ridge Energies has additional customer service offices in Boone, Hickory, West Jefferson and Sparta.
