Hickory, North Carolina (October 30, 2001) – Hickory Mart Shows brings many visitors to Catawba County through professionally produced trade and consumer shows at the Hickory Metro Convention Center. Recently the Hickory-Catawba Valley Home Builders Association joined forces with Hickory Mart Shows to bring “Today’s Carolina Home” show to the convention center, where visitors interested in home building, remodeling, decorating, and other home comfort areas received a wealth of information from local companies providing these services.
During the Show, which was held October 26-28, members of the Home Builders Association and assisting volunteers constructed a Habitat for Humanity House on site, with plans to locate the house in the Highland community. Additionally, show sponsor Blue Ridge Energies presented a donation of 100 combination smoke/carbon monoxide detectors to Hickory and Conover Fire Departments in conjunction with National Fire Prevention Month. Fire departments across the county will coordinate to distribute and install the detectors in deserving households under a county program that targets families with young children and the elderly.
Co-sponsors of the show were Blue Ridge Energies and Lyf-Tym Building Products, along with The Charlotte Observer, Charter Communications, Alltell, and WFMX 105.7 radio.
