Lenoir, North Carolina (October 19, 2001) – Blue Ridge Energies will celebrate the successful opening of their Catawba County office by presenting a free workshop on propane gas home usage and safety at the Today’s Carolina Home show in Hickory. The public is invited to attend the workshop entitled “Using Propane in Your Home,” at noon, Saturday, October 27, at the Hickory Metro Trade Center. The first 50 people attending will receive a free carbon monoxide/smoke detector from Blue Ridge Energies.

“The workshop is designed to help residents develop their own personalized energy plan by using a mix of Blue Ridge Energies propane services and appliances to enjoy a comfortable and energy efficient home,” said Glenda Christian, business development manager for Blue Ridge Energies. “At Blue Ridge Energies, we work with our customers to provide reliable service as well as education on their systems and usage. During the seminar, residents will learn more about the safety and many benefits of propane furnaces, space heaters, propane gas powered water heaters and gas logs and fireplaces as well as special Blue Ridge Energies services,” she said.

Ronnie Jewell, Safety Manager, and Morris Critcher, Service Supervisor, will present the seminar and demonstrations.

Blue Ridge Energies was founded in 1998 as a subsidiary of Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation in Lenoir. Locally owned and operated and drawing on the parent company’s 60 years of personalized customer service, Blue Ridge Energies expanded into Catawba County last year. Customer growth led the opening of a local Catawba County office on Tate Blvd., Hickory, while a propane bulk storage plant was constructed last year in Conover.
