Lenoir, North Carolina (October 15, 2001) –Blue Ridge Energies and Holiday Foods recently raised nearly $15,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association as a result of a charity golf tournament held at Cedar Rock Country Club. Pepsi Cola and Moore’s Quality Chips co-sponsored the tournament, which has become an annual event coordinated by Bob Hauss, who recently retired as special projects manger of Blue Ridge Energies.
Assisting Hauss in the tenth annual MDA tournament were Jim Crump, vice president of BCW and general manager of Holiday Foods, and Cathy Brown, supervisor of Holiday Foods. Hauss also credited a number of employees from Blue Ridge Energies and Holiday Foods who helped make the tournament a success.
The Captain’s Choice tournament included representatives from various area businesses.
“I appreciate the support of all who participated as players or hole sponsors, and those who made donations or supported this very worthy charity tournament in any way,” said Hauss. “The tournament is always enjoyed by everyone who participates and we have a lot of very good players, but the real focus is on raising funds for this deserving organization,” he added.
Over the years, the local tournament coordinated by Hauss has raised approximately $165,000 for MDA.
