WEST JEFFERSON, NORTH CAROLINA (September 5, 2001) – An open house will be held Saturday, September 8, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the newly renovated office of Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation and Blue Ridge Energies located 716 Mt. Jefferson Road.

Blue Ridge Energies, a provider of home heating oil, kerosene, and propane recently moved its customer service functions from Hwy. 163 and opened a new showroom within the district office of parent company Blue Ridge Electric.

Blue Ridge Energies retains its operational office at Hwy. 163 and has automated its gasoline facilities at this location to accept credit cards and “Cardlock system” cards.

With the change in customer service and showroom locations, Blue Ridge Energies customers can now handle customer service functions such as discussing energy options and appliances, paying bills, and signing up for new service from 716 Mt. Jefferson Road in West Jefferson. Customers can continue using the same telephone number they’ve been using to reach Blue Ridge Energies at the new location: 246-2421. Customers may also sign up or change their service and contact the company over the company’s web site at www.BlueRidgeEnergies.com

The combined customer service location for the two companies means that customers of Blue Ridge Energies and Blue Ridge Electric can pay their energy bills, have a complete energy showroom, and receive customer assistance all in one location. New conveniences for Blue Ridge Energies customers will be the option of a drive-thru payment window, additional parking, and an expanded showroom full of hearth products.

The showroom will include a variety of energy products including Monitor heaters, complete fireplaces with mantles, gas logs, free standing stoves, wall heaters, kerosene monitors, inserts, and grills. Commercial heaters and water heaters are also available. The latest in surge protection equipment for homes and businesses, as well as electric water heaters, are also included.

The current Blue Ridge Energies location, which was formerly Ashe Oil Co. until Blue Ridge Energies acquired the business in January last year, will offer automated, self-service gasoline dispensers. The operation will also become a base to house the vehicles and service technicians of Blue Ridge Energies in Ashe County, although all customer service functions will be handled from the office at 716 West Jefferson Rd.

Blue Ridge Energies serves a growing territory from operations in Lenoir, Boone, West Jefferson, Sparta and Hickory. The company provides propane gas, home heating fuels, and commercial gasoline. Showrooms are located in Lenoir, Boone, and West Jefferson.

Blue Ridge Electric is one of the nation’s largest not-for-profit, member-owned electric cooperatives, serving over 63,000 members in Caldwell, Watauga, Ashe and Alleghany counties.
