Blue Ridge Energies Names Armistead as Vice President of Motor Fuel Operations

Lenoir, North Carolina (July 5, 2001) – Ben S. Armistead, III, has been named vice president of Motor Fuel Operations for Blue Ridge Energies, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation.

Armistead joins Blue Ridge Energies from BP Oil Company, where he was account executive overseeing customer relations and business development in BP’s $200 million fuel and non-fuel wholesale products business segment. Armistead had worked for BP since 1985, when he joined the company after an 18-year career at Gulf Oil Company U.S. 

As vice president of Motor Fuel Operations, Armistead is responsible for planning and management for the division, as well as for over- seeing customer relations for clients of the motor fuels division. Armistead is also leading development and implementation of the company’s gasoline branding strategy as well as coordinating business development efforts. 

Armistead, who is re-locating to the Blowing Rock area from Davidson, North Carolina, holds a bachelor’s degree from West Georgia College.
