Lenoir, North Carolina (April 18, 2001) – A Hudson woman recently received $100 worth of Blue Ridge Energies heating fuel after winning a raffle sponsored by the local chapter of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Edith Fowler, of Hudson, recently accepted a certificate for the fuel oil from Charles Beck, vice president of operations for Blue Ridge Energies. Ramona Thompson, president of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 29, joined in the presentation.

The raffle by the local chapter was designed to help sponsor a representative to the girls’ state conference of the American Legion. The conference educates attendees on state and federal government. The American Legion assists local veterans and their families.

Blue Ridge Energies, a wholly owned subsidiary of Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation, provides propane, heating fuels, gas appliances, and commercial gasoline from offices in Lenoir, Morganton, Boone, West Jefferson and Sparta.
