Lenoir, North Carolina (February 8, 2001) – To assist local residents struggling with unusually high energy bills resulting from a record cold winter, Blue Ridge Energies and its parent company, Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation, is asking the public and its employees to join together in a matching funds campaign to provide emergency relief funds for those in critical situations. Donations are tax deductible.
Through the end of February, Blue Ridge will match every dollar donated up to $50,000. Donations will be distributed through
local helping agencies such as the County Department of Social Services so that qualified staff can determine local residents who need assistance with any type of energy bill, including electric, propane, heating fuel, kerosene, etc.
“The extremely cold weather and rising energy costs have presented challenges to some families this winter, and this is one way Blue Ridge Energies is helping meet the needs of our local residents,” said
Doug Johnson, Chairman and Chief Operating Officer.
