August 27, 1999 – Beginning August 30, Blue Ridge Energies, a subsidiary of Blue Ridge Electric, will provide propane services to residential and business customers from the location of the cooperative’s district office, located on Hwy. 421 South across from Mack Brown Chevrolet.

From headquarters in Lenoir and branch offices in Boone and Morganton, Blue Ridge Energies serves a 13-county area reaching from West Jefferson, N.C. to York, S.C. with propane, fuel and home heating oils, and commercial gasoline. Blue Ridge Energies was formed as a subsidiary of the cooperative last year.

“Blue Ridge Energies is unique among propane providers in that we’re able to offer customers a high level of responsiveness and attention,” said Gwynita Steele, director of customer service for the cooperative and customer service manager at the Watauga district office. “Our commitment is to provide responsive service for customers,” Steele continued. “We work individually with customers to develop energy solutions that work for their specific business or residential setting and help determine what will be their best energy options,” Steele said.

Blue Ridge Energies is staffed with qualified service technicians and drivers. Customer services of Blue Ridge Energies include complete piping installation, tank setting, appliance installation, and an “automatic fill-up” program that helps customers keep their tanks full to avoid emergency situations. For extraordinary customer needs occurring after normal operating hours, Blue Ridge Energies offers 24-hour on-call service and delivery.

Other customer conveniences and benefits include receiving a discount when bills are paid in full within three days of fill-up. Visa and Master Card are also accepted, and a finance program is available for appliances and heart products.

Blue Ridge Energies is a limited liability company of Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation, one of the largest electric cooperatives in the nation. With headquarters in Caldwell County, Blue Ridge Electric serves nearly 60,000 customers in Alleghany, Ashe, Caldwell and Watauga counties and parts of Avery, Alexander, and Wilkes counties.

Blue Ridge Energies can be contacted by calling 264-3521 or by visiting the Blue Ridge office located on Hwy 421 South across from Mack Brown Chevrolet.
